On a recent waterfowl hunt in Alberta with Sean Mann, I had ample opportunity to field test your Strangler choke tube in the new semi-automatic Mossberg 935 AccuMag. Over the course of the hunt I shot big Canada geese ducks at a variety of ranges from 20 yards to beyond 40 yards. In each case, if I did my part and centered the goose in the pattern, it was in the bag. Sean is extremely ethical, and goes to extraordinary lengths to retrieve every downed bird. I don’t believe that over the hunt he had to go very far to collect my birds.

The Strangler incorporates all of the elements found to be essential for good killing patterns: constriction and wad retardation. The tightest patterns I have ever shot were with choke tubes that both retarded the wad and at the same time prevented it from spinning at the critical moment when the shot column exits the muzzle. Although constriction is not essential with very hard steel shot, it certainly helps shape the patterns of bismuth, lead and tungsten/polymer shot. The Strangler seems to deliver the required pattern density essential for good, clean kills on both large geese and ducks, and should work equally well on whatever species one wishes to hunt where high performance is essential.
